Children

Children can sometimes become unwell suddenly and unexpectedly. At Prospect Medical Centre, it is our policy to always see a sick child as soon as possible. If you are a registered patient at Prospect Medical Centre,are worried about your child and cannot wait for an appointment, please bring them to the surgery and we will do our best to accomodate you.

Two week check
All two week old babies are entitled to a free check up as part of Combined Ante-natal Care. During the visit we will check baby’s weight, hips and heart.

Six week check
All babies and mothers who participate in Combined Antenatal Care are eligible for a free check up six weeks after delivery.

Childhood Immunisations
Vaccinating your child is an important step in protecting them from serious illnesses. Vaccines are given at an early age because young babies are particularly vulnerable to infection and need to be protected as early as possible.  The following vaccinations are reccomended for all children are are available at Prospect Medical Centre:
2 Months:  6 in 1 and pneumonia vaccine
4 Months:  6 in 1 and Meningitis C vaccine
6 Months: 6 in1, pneumonia and meningitis C vaccine and Pneumonia vaccine
12 Months:  MMR and PCV
13 Months:  Men C and Hib

Other vaccines, such as Chicken pox and Cervical Cancer vaccine are available and may be administered following a consultation with the doctor.

 

It is practice policy to always endevour to see an unwell child as soon as possible. If your child is unwell with a fever, or, if you are worried, please let the receptionist know and we will try ccommodate you. In some circumstances, this may necessitate referring you to the on-call service or to Contactors Medical Bereau
