Wrinkle Reduction
What is Botulinum?
Botulinum is a naturally occuring protein. When injected in very small quantities it relaxes the muscles of the face leading to wrinkle reduction and smoother skin. It is used to smooth out the forehead lines, crows feet and frown lines.
Is it safe?
Because it is a safety procedure, most people can have Botulinum. However, if you are pregnant or have any medical condition, please check with the doctor before having Botulinum injection.
How is Botulinum given?
Prior to administering Botulinum, your doctor will examine your facial muscles and discuss the treatment. Then, using tiny needles, several small injections are given into the muscles of the forehead and around the eyes.
How long does it last?
Botulinum begins to work from 3-10 days after injection. The effect lasts up to 3-4 months in most people, but some find the effect may last up to 6 months. At that point you may wish to have another treatment.
What side effects are there?
Most people feel no side effects at all! However you may experience a headache or slight bruising around the injection site. Rarely, drooping of the eyelids may occur but this will resolve spontaneously.
